THE KING IN THE SHADES
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
THE KING IN THE SHADES
A classic late-90s / early 2000s narrative driven survival-horror game, set in a fictional universe full of century old mysteries to uncover.
You play as Douglas Hayles, the one who bears the mark of the king of shades and tasked with an impossible mission that cannot be achieved within a single lifespan.
Enter the world of THE KING IN THE SHADES and rid this decaying world of the curse of Gods.
From strings he rises anew
A benumbed awakening strew
Afore destinies window strays
Be pallor and roots set ablaze
So wanton grief that ought breath
May under Aine’s shadow wreathe.
FEATURES:
- Cinematic fixed camera level design.
- Classic tank controls movement system.
- Limited supplies and inventory space.
- Limited amount of lives per play-through, every decision you make has a cost..
- In real-time resource management, preparation before every engagement is key to survival.
- Choose both the combat and puzzle difficulty according to your preferences.
I bid you welcome to the first chapter in the world of 'THE KING IN THE SHADES', may this short slice of the game be as enjoyable for you as it was for me making it!
More chapters are soon to follow as they get developed!

vibes resident evil nice.
Hey this game is very solid! it ran on Linux flawlessly.
Definitely spot on the aesthetic and theme and gameplay. Was quite tough for me since i’m not super skilled on action games but was intrigued to play more.
here’s me playing it and some feedback. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZXaXSzXgYo
I really enjoyed the game. Definitely creepy and the monsters felt strong and scary. There was a lot of them but wasn't the problem just how fast they are you had to make good decisions or you'll wind up dead.
So glad you enjoyed it! I got tons of great feedback from the video to focus on improving the game, thank you very much!
hey thats great to hear. I didn't remember if I said anything about the enemy respawn issue when you die. Which definitely increases difficulty as your ammo doesn't replenish. I am excited for part 2
Enemies don't respawn either, though I can't guarantee that they won't eventually revive themselves in hard difficulty or above :D
There's just so many moving around that it's even hard for me to keep track of how many remain out there!
I can promise that the wait for part 2 will be worth it!
